Community Service
We here at Lingua Franca believe that serving the community is a good idea for the sake of a well-rounded personality. Through our Community Service gestures, we try to give back to the society what we received from it. Though, the concept of community service is not very new its importance has developed in the past few years. Basically, community service is a way for a person to give back to a community in which they live.
The process is beneficial both for the individuals as well as the society. Some people ask, “Why is community service such an important quality and trait for a person to posses?” Without community service people would not know the meaning of charity and giving back.
Community service can be defined as a service that is performed for the benefit of the public. Community service is not a responsibly or an obligation; it is a commitment. A person must want to do it with good intentions and not because they are being forced to do so.
There are many ways of giving back to the community; it can include tutoring, mentoring students, collecting items for charity, or cleaning up a park.
One of the main benefits of community service is that it builds a person’s character. It helps you to work on skills of being able to communicate with people, being able to work on a team, and being able to take on leadership role; all of these being skills that a person can use throughout their entire lives. Communication is a key skill that every person should posses because almost every aspect of life deals with communicating our thoughts and emotions to others.
Lingua Franca also keeps taking initiative to give back to the society as it has bountifully received…it might be the holding of “Happiness month” during which all individuals associated with it collect all items that can be reused and forward it to orphanages, old age homes, or it may be the rallies, or the protest march that we organize to put our views forward. It can also be seen when we lend our support in educating children of the lower strata of the society, or our plantation drives spreading awareness about plants and their role on earth.
